The park is open all year with each season being distinctively beautiful and providing a completely different feel to one of natures most amazing creations.

Spring can bring waterfalls cascading into the Virgin River, the force that carved Zion Canyon. This can also be an amazing time of year for desert wildflowers to accent the surrounding towering cliffs, rolling foothills, and lush valley floor.

Summer is the favorite sseason with deep red cliffs rising above the lush green canyon. The longer days and warm temperatures make doing some of the longer back country hikes such as the Narrows, West Rim Trail, and the Kolob Arch possible in one day.

In autumn, brilliant red and gold foliage accents the colors in the stone cliffs. The Indian Summer can last well into late October and even early November with peak fall colors usually happening around the 7th through the 10th of November.

Winter offers moderate temperatures with crisp mornings and pleasant afternoons. A skiff of snow may appear on the silhouettes of the peaks on the west entrance while the east entrance of the park will experience heavy winter snowfall on rare occasions.

Daytime summer temperatures range from 70- to-105 degrees F, while night temperatures are usually between 45-and-75 degrees F. Daytime winter temperatures range from 40-60 degress F, with overnight temperatures ranging from 25-40 degrees F.
